Job Description:
The Director of New Student Programs and Community Initiatives (DNSPCI) is responsible for bringing a relational, strategic, and coordinated approach to the administration and management of new student programs (orientation & transition programs), as well as signature events, programs, and strategic projects in support of the residential student experience. Includes the planning, implementation, and oversight of orientation services for first-year and transfer undergraduates; collaboration with campus partners to support pre-orientation offerings to incoming students; partnering with Campus Life's Office of Parent and Families in support of their welcome events for families; coordination of move-in for new and returning students; implementation of Good Neighbor program in support of students living off-campus in Providence; assisting with the coordination of commencement & reunion events (including housing); oversight of communications strategy for Residential Life; and development of strategic relationships with campus partners in support of the residential student experience.
The Director is responsible for all external-facing communications (website, brand management, marketing). The position will serve on divisional and university-wide committees and work closely with other academic and administrative offices to ensure Residential Life initiatives are effectively communicated to stakeholders with connection to the student experience. Directly supervises an Assistant Director and indirectly supervises 100+ student orientation fellows/leaders. The Director collaborates with the College and other Campus Life and University departments to provide programs and services, to develop and implement policies within a student development framework, and to respond to student emergencies.
The Director serves as a member of the Residential Life leadership team, contributing to the direction of the University's after-hours on-call system and collaborates with a wide range of colleagues to respond to student emergencies. Collaborate within the Residential Life leadership team to ensure seamless, integrated, consistent and comprehensive administrative and operational policies and procedures across the residential system.

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree plus 8-12 years of related experience or Master's degree plus 6-10 years of related experience; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of six years of progressively responsible related experience in orientation/student transition programs, leadership development in higher education or related field. Experience providing leadership within a complex educational operation.
- Demonstrated success in personnel and fiscal management, including the ability to manage a departmental budget, and to hire, cultivate and retain outstanding talent.
- Demonstrated success working in a diverse environment with a critical understanding of social justice issues. Demonstrated experience developing systems and structures that center justice and equity.
- Evidence of success creating and leading programs for first-year and transfer undergraduate students.
- Evidence of creative strategic thinking and proven ability to work in a dynamic environment, to facilitate organizational change, adjust priorities, collaborate with partners, and improve organizational performance.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to exercise a high degree of judgment, diplomacy and discretion.
- Demonstrated leadership in a complex organizational structure; ability to work within and across a leadership cohort to build alignment around shared values and outcomes.
- Agility and familiarity with latest software, database systems, computer literacy.
- Strong commitment to supporting the University's goal of cultivating a diverse and inclusive community.
