Senior Accountant & Data Analyst
CVEC is looking for a accounting/financial professional to: Perform accounting, finance, and analytical responsibilities across the Cooperative. Develop and coordinate the preparation and review of the annual budget. Provide ongoing analysis and updates of monthly budget status; and provide ad hoc reporting and forecasting. Collaborate cross-departmentally to achieve financial goals of the CVEC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Finance & Accounting Manager with monthly close process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and work paper preparation.
Prepares monthly budget v. actual variance analysis for Management. Monitors CVEC departmental spending, investigates significant variances, and prepares narratives about departures from budget. Improves financial status of the CVEC by analyzing results and variances, identifying trends, and recommending action.
Coordinates with Department Managers to develop annual operating and capital budgets for CVEC, reviews for accuracy and completeness, and works with Communications Department to create budget in booklet and electronic form for presentation to Management and Board of Directors for final approval.
Prepares cash projections and recommends cash needs to Management based on current cash position, projected cash inflows, and known cash outflows.
Coordinates accumulation of costs for FEMA events and acts as liaison between the Cooperative and Federal/State Emergency representatives during declared events. Collaborates with Finance & Accounting Manager and Capital Projects & Plant Accountant to compile project worksheets and provide ongoing interaction regarding funding, filing of quarterly financial reports, and other documentation as. requested to ensure the Cooperative receives Federal and State funds when applicable.
Creates dashboards and metrics related to financial ratios, cash flows, and other various transaction classes.
Assists Finance & Accounting Manager with preparation for annual audit.
Compiles Key Ratio Trend Analysis Report (KRTA) for Management and Board.
Performs inter-company billing and reconciliation for transactions with Firefly Fiber Broadband, CVEC's wholly-owned subsidiary.
Performs special assignments and other ad hoc projects as required (Annual reports, ALDC benchmarking, assistance with IRS Form 990).
Maintains relationships internally with employees of the organization; externally with member cooperatives, accounting associations and auditors to exchange information, guide, inform, and assist.
Serves as backup to Accounts Payable Specialist, Capital Projects & Plant Accountant, and Collections.
Assists Firefly with various accounting projects as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from an accredited college or university, three years of accounting experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Advanced PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work effectively with employees, membership, and external parties.
- Exceptional oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in daily operations and conduct duties in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of RUS accounting preferred.
