Job Summary
Information Commons Leads at Gateway Community and Technical College play a crucial role in the institution's student retention and success initiatives. They ensure accurate information dissemination, foster a collaborative environment, and organize day-to-day operations while providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Job Duties:
- Providing excellent customer service, while sharing accurate information with students, staff, faculty, and the community
- Connecting students and the community to appropriate departments, programs, and resources
- Documenting service provided to the Gateway community by correctly completing Information Commons tickets.
- Mentoring, training, and supervising Information Commons work-study students.
- Working with Information Commons staff and students to keep the desk area organized and uncluttered, maintaining a comfortable and safe working environment
- Scheduling personnel to cover the desk during hours of operation and completing secondary tasks as assigned by department heads.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree, or equivalent, in Communications, Library, Business, Computer Technology or related field
- 3 years of relevant experience

- Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
- Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
- Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
- Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
