Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Analyst I, Budgets & Business Operations supports the Director, Business Operations for Financial Operations & Facilities. Under direct supervision, position is responsible for multiple unique duties and projects, from planning to implementation. Performs budgetary, financial analysis and reporting functions, reviews budgets for trends and conducts analyses as needed, provides regular reports to management, and provides administrative assistance as needed. Position will work closely with Managers and Executives to ensure all budgetary guidelines and goals are met and maintained.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manages assigned location budgets, as well as auditing and monitoring multiple department budgets within FOF and Chancellor's Office. Involves analyzing data, performing research, preparing reports, and resolving and/or offering recommendations for resolutions to budget issues
- Conducts research, collects data, and creates a variety of reports, presentations, correspondences and communications
- Uses query functions in iStar and other reporting instruments to provide data in useful formats for complete cost analyses, expense projections, and trend reports to provide to leadership
- Works closely with assigned areas for the coordination of various accounting activities, including payment of invoices, initiating requisitions and purchase orders, and research and reconciliation of accounts
- Monitors expenditures and budgets; assists with budget setup and balancing the final budget; assist with the resolution of position management and budget issues that may occur; reviews various personnel/payroll forms as assigned
- Reviews budget trends comparing to expected performance and making recommendations as necessary. Summarizes and submits recommendations for the funding or reallocation of funds
- Tracks and coordinates requests for and documentation of position and personnel changes and updates
- Works collaboratively with all departments and serves as liaison with FOF/Chancellor's Office; works closely with internal and external constituents to provide training and ongoing support to different department positions
- Seeks new ways to improve efficiency, and make recommendations as needed
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- Work will involve some travel within the LSC service area (north Greater Houston metro area)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in higher education
- PeopleSoft experience
- Experience working with budgets, budget modeling and/or other financial analysis
Salary
Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
