Job Summary:
We are seeking to hire a SEED Team Leader who would lead the intervention arm of the Childhood Activities Nutrition and Development Oversight (CAN DO) study, a randomized control trial which aims to explore early infant introduction of peanut and other common food allergens (egg, wheat, cashew, and walnut) in the US and the impact of early introduction on food allergy development between ages 1-3. Over 1,500 infants will be enrolled from diverse pediatric practices in Chicago.
This position reports to the CAN DO study research project co-managers and, in addition to performing the duties of a SEED study coach, will also lead a growing team of SEED study coaches and handle all day to day operations pertaining to this arm. This would include, but is not limited to: leading weekly coaching meetings, conducting bi-weekly check-ins with study coaches, facilitating and overseeing food distribution to SEED participants, conflict management and resolution of SEED related activities, onboarding and training new SEED study coaches, creating and implementing relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) pertaining to SEED, and direct communication with the two CAN DO research project co-managers regarding the ongoings of the SEED arm.
The successful candidate will join a mission-driven, collaborative research team within a dynamic research environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in biology, public health, or other health-related field, possess leadership and team-building skills, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a passion for using scientific research to find answers and improve lives.
This position will support the Center for Food Allergy & Asthma Research (CFAAR), directed by Dr. Ruchi Gupta. As a center with a presence in the both the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) and Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), CFAAR provides community and stakeholder engagement infrastructure across the research spectrum.
Specific Responsibilities:
Administration
- Manages day to day operations.
- Ensures that program/project mission, values, guidelines, policies & procedures are implemented & maintained.
- Manages design and development of program databases; compiles & analyzes data; prepares reports.
- Identifies service improvement opportunities that will better enable program/project to achieve its goals and objectives.
- Observes program sessions and interacts with participants for purpose of gaining consumer insight, growing and strengthening program knowledge, and optimizing client satisfaction.
- Coordinates the collection, analysis & reporting of required information for surveys, review documents, public information documents, etc.
- Analyzes evaluation data from instructors, students, participants, etc. to assist in program/project development and updates.
- Implements corrective actions required as a result of surveys or other indicators.
- Ensures human resources programs, policies, & procedures are implemented & consistently applied.
- Coordinates all or portions of the talent management lifecycle (sourcing, selecting, developing, coaching, rewarding, recognizing, managing information & optimizing talent.)
- In consultation with management & Central HR, administers HR solutions.
- Maintains excellent working relationship with Office of Human Resources.
- Manages program/project curriculum, seminars, presentations, workshops, learning experiences, chat rooms, websites, social networking, etc. based on goals/objectives.
- Manages academic quality and continued growth and expansion.
- Identifies & obtains external expertise as needed and works with content experts for current and new programs.
- Reviews programs/projects to increase efficiencies to support growth.
- Manages speaker selection, communication, and topic development.
- Leads program/project updates and improvements.
- Ensures compliance with all necessary organizations.
- Prepares documentation as required.
- Interfaces with accreditation bodies.
- Acts as the regulatory and compliance officer.
- Administers & maintains existing strategic plans.
- Participates with area/unit senior staff in the conceptualization, development and presentation of materials used in functional operations.
- Supervises 1-2 staff &/or provides work direction.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- 1 year program/project administration or other relevant experience.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt given changing priorities
- Ability to lead a team of experienced professionals and build consensus and buy-in for executive-level decisions
- Adept at handling high stakes situations while exuding calm and control
- Ability to manage and resolve conflict among team members
- Biology or other health related experience
