Job Summary
The primary objectives of the Associate Controller are to provide leadership and management of the day-to-day financial operations and planning for University accounting. Primary duties include ensuring appropriate, timely, and accurate data and reporting and the planning and preparation of all supporting financial documents for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and the annual financial statements. The position will coordinate with the Financial Reporting team for preparation of annual financial statements and serve as a liaison to the State and Independent auditors for year-end audit and annual audits of all Office of Finance operations (payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, data control, general accounting).The position will be responsible for preparing financial documents, ensuring adherence to GAAP and GASB pronouncements and regulations, developing financial policies and procedures, completing all special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Finance/University Controller, and serving as back up for the Associate Vice President for Finance/University Controller to assist the University and Office of Finance in carrying out their missions.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in business, public administration or related field from an accredited college or university is required. A bachelor's degree in a related field with equivalent experience to a master's degree may be substituted.
Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures. Considerable knowledge of financial, budget, accounting, and business operations planning and control. Excellent organizational management skills. Excellent analytical skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to conduct a variety of financial audits with considerable independence. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies. Demonstrated ability to confer ideas and establish work schedules, goals, and objectives for staff.
Current CPA certification required.
Comprehensive experience in university or large industry financial management. Considerable recent experience as the Chief Financial Officer, Controller, or related position. Considerable experience in financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
Some Not-for-profit or government accounting experience preferred.
Conditions of Employment
A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate. Completion of Statement of Personal Economic Interests is required upon hire.
