Teaching Assistant Positions (Type 4- Grading) Available
The College of Health Sciences is seeking highly motivated students interested in Teaching Assistant positions who are enrolled in a CHS graduate program (with 18 graduate credit hours completed) or who are pursuing a doctoral degree in Rehabilitation and Health Sciences.
Teaching Assistant (Type 4- Grading) responsibilities include grading homework and projects, assisting with Canvas shell related tasks, and other duties as assigned.
Two 10-12 Month Positions Available: July or August 2023 through the 23-24 academic year (20 hours weekly) and renewable each year for a maximum of 3 years.
One 5-6 Month Position available- FALL SEMESTER ONLY: July or August 2023 through December 2023 (20 hours weekly) and renewable each year for a maximum of 3 years.

Position Description: Teaching Assistant (TA) in the College of Health Sciences.
Qualifications:
1. Earned master's degree in a health related or clinical management related field or
current CHS graduate student with 18 graduate credit hours completed.
2. Interested in teaching undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Human Health Sciences, Clinical Leadership and Management, or Communication Science and Disorders.
3. Excellent skills in writing, rhetoric, and knowledge of grammar conventions.

A teaching assistantship will include stipend (10-12 months), tuition waiver (fall and spring semesters only), and health insurance.
Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistantship:
Students will assist primary instructors in implementing content and evaluating student work in composition and communication intensive courses in the undergraduate programs of Communication Science and Disorders and various courses as assigned in the Health Human Sciences, and Clinical Leadership and Management programs:
Teaching Assistant Assignments 2023-2024
Option 1: TA #1-Full-time 20 hours per week
· Completion of the Graduate School's university-wide TA Orientation and the department's orientation activities.
· Collaboration with the director and/or CHS faculty affiliated with the program and course assignment as necessary regarding assessments, lessons, and course content to carry out position assignments.
· Collaboration with the director and/or CHS faculty affiliated with the program and course assignment as necessary to discuss any course related issues.
· Answering questions, providing feedback, and other correspondence with students and colleagues in person and online via email consistent with scope of role in the course.
· Monitor and track student progress through the use of Canvas.
· Records maintenance and retention of student coursework via Canvas or as hardcopy.
· Responsible for providing 3 office hours per week and meeting with students at their appointment request.
· Assisting primary instructor with grading and evaluating student work according to rubrics and examination keys and other instructions.
· Participation in professional development and division trainings as necessary.
· Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Students may not exceed 20 hours per week during the academic year for all assignments across campus. TA's receive a stipend, a tuition scholarship provided by the UK Graduate School/College of Health Sciences, and Student Health Plan Coverage provided by the Graduate School

The mission of the Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program is to fulfill a leadership role in addressing the rehabilitation needs of individuals in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond through research, education, and service. The program is designed to produce research and academic leaders in rehabilitation sciences for the professions of communication disorders, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training. The UK College of Health Sciences offers the program in collaboration with Eastern Kentucky University, and Western Kentucky University. The Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program at the University of Kentucky is among the few of its kind in the nation to grant a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences and has one of the highest percentages of students graduating within five years at the university. The program includes 38 faculty and 40 full- and part-time students from diverse backgrounds and a range of clinical and higher education experiences.
The program has a strong emphasis on research and provides very diverse research experiences in the different areas of physical rehabilitation.
