The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Program Coordinator for the Smith Business Leadership Fellows Program within the Office of Undergraduate Programs.  One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.  

SBLF is a two-year learning community designed for like-minded business students of all majors who wish to engage both in and out of the classroom exploring the future of you, business, and leadership. This new program welcomed its first cohort of freshmen in the Fall 2022 semester and is excited to welcome 75 newly admitted students this coming Fall 2023.

The SBLF Program Coordinator will lead retention and engagement efforts for SBLF students, including coordinating daily operations; overseeing program social media efforts; planning extracurricular events, orientations, and student communications; advising students and student organizations; and assisting the program staff and faculty as needed. Some evening and weekend work is required. The Program Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director for Smith Fellows Programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of two years of experience working with students in a role related to student retention, student advising, and/or student programming. Strong organizational, teamwork, customer service, and communication skills with a student-centric mindset; excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of students, administration, faculty, staff, and other constituents and colleagues; ability to handle challenging situations; high levels of self-directedness, flexibility, and proactive orientation; willingness to speak up and offer novel ideas for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the SBLF Program.
