Job Description
Supervises police officers on an assigned shift and enforces university regulations and city and state laws as they apply to university property.
- Performs routine to complex assignments using existing procedures
- Conducts investigations, providing input and oversight as necessary
- Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, as necessary
- Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems
- Researches and analyzes information and uses standard practices to make informed judgments and recommendations
- Has limited impact on own work team
- Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
- Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions, and checks for audience understanding
- Develops working relationships with internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed
- Remains objective when handling various situations
- Tactfully handles sensitive information
- Other duties as assigned
- Assigns and reviews work of other officers
- May mentor (or supervise as needed) others in completing duties
- Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within the Institutional Safety function
- Applies general knowledge developed through education and experiences
Shift
40 hours, rotating shifts
Salary
Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $24.22- $33.08 Hourly

University Title: Police Sergeant
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
- Missouri POST certification may be required prior to employment, but it is required once job is started
- A valid driver's license is required
