Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion, the Director of Equity and Inclusion Programs will manage and provide day-to-day oversight to diversity and multi-cultural programs within the Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (OEDI) at the University of Pittsburgh. As the Director of Equity and Inclusion Programs, the incumbent will be responsible for the creation, development, implementation, and growth of new and existing innovative and creative cultural programs aimed at advancing the mission, vision, and initiatives of OEDI. Through the cultivation of mutually beneficial partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, the Director will seek creative opportunities to transform the University's culture across student, faculty, and staff populations with an emphasis on making cultural competency a part of the University of Pittsburgh experience. To facilitate these programs, the Director will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, implementing, and executing innovative program strategies and goals, ensuring alignment with those of OEDI and the Plan for Pitt.
The Director will be charged with conceptualizing, coordinating, and administering events, communications, and new initiatives, continuously evaluating programs and initiatives through the collection of data and analysis of metrics to seek opportunities for enhancements. The Director will act as the central point of contact for cultural programming and diversity/inclusion initiatives for OEDI and will be responsible for upholding the University's model and best practices for cultural and diversity/inclusion programs and initiatives. As such, the Director will chair multiple campus-wide committees that celebrate cultural affinity months such as, Women's History Month, Black History Month, Latino Awareness Month, etc. On a regular basis, the Director will be responsible for the day-to-day program operations. This includes the management of budget, personnel, policies, and procedures, as well as the management and coordination of University-wide cultural events throughout the year.
Masters degree and 5+ years of experience in diversity and inclusion, programming, student affairs, human resources higher education, or a related field is required. Must demonstrate progressive experience in strategic management, and project conceptualization, development and implementation. Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate with multiple and diverse populations. Strong organizational, analytical, and judgment skills required.
