Research Assistant
Job Summary:
The Research Assistant provides an integral support in the Muscular Dystrophy Research Program. The Research Assistant will be responsible for abstraction of medical records for a federal, long-term prevalence study. The Research Assistant will also assist the Clinical Research Coordinators with updating and maintaining logs and filing in charts; prepare, verify and enter data into computerized information systems; assist with regulatory documentation; contact study patients to conduct phone-based interviews and/or for recruitment and follow-up. The Research Assistant will also assist with supply inventory for network studies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
25% -- CHART REVIEW AND ABSTRACTION
-- Review charts and abstract medical records per the CDC training and guidelines.
-- Research assistant will review charts per PI and CDC guidelines, identify the relevant participants, and abstract the records accordingly.
25% -- DATA ENTRY
-- Collect, review, and enter data into study databases.
-- Researches and evaluates all documents for accuracy and completeness to ensure correct data is entered.
25% -- RESEARCH VISIT ASSISTANCE
-- Prepare materials for study visits, including remote collection kits for participants.
-- Collect questionnaires and biospecimens from participants in clinic, and enter into the research records, as well as storing source documents into participants' study files.
-- Ensures proper collection, processing and shipment of specimens.
25% -- ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE
-- Update research regulatory folders/binders as needed.
-- Perform additional study duties as necessary, such as recruitment and follow-up activities
Essential Qualifications:
-- High school diploma or equivalency.
-- Experience with research.
-- Interest and willingness to learn is highly preferred.
-- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
-- Data entry experience, including use of web-based databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
-- 1-2 years' experience in research.
-- Preference for experience with human subjects research.
-- CNA/MA or other clinical licensure.
Position will remain open until filled with a priority application date of January 3, 2022.
This is a restricted position with no set end date; continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and/or performance.

Salary Range: $26,000 - $38,000/annually
